Workplace Organiser Training

Brighton Solidarity Federation will be holding a workplace organiser training day on Saturday March 12th. The training is based on a direct action approach to organising rather than looking to use employment law to resolve workplace issues. No experience of workplace organising is necessary and the training takes place in a fun and friendly atmosphere. If you’re interested in organising in your workplace, or just want to learn about the organising process, this course is a great way to make a start.

The training programme is designed to give workers the tools and confidence to organise in their workplaces, whether or not there's an existing union. Even if you've had training from another union, you may find the direct action based approach we adopt offers a fresh perspective. Whether you've got a union or not, join us for a workshop on how to create strong organisation in your workplace according to anarcho-syndicalist principles. Topics include building a 'shop committee', cross-union activity, collectivising grievances, workplace mapping, types of direct action, role plays, group meetings and confronting the boss!

The training lasts 7 hours including breaks and is designed to incorporate your real life work situation into some of the role plays to make it as realistic as possible and help tailor it to the trainees' needs. The principles taught in this programme are based on successful workplace organising over the last decade and the programme is constantly being adapted to incorporate the latest experiences of direct action.
